At VIPHS, enthusiasts of poetry, dramatic writing, screenwriting, short stories, and Shakespeare will find a vibrant home within our diverse range of creative writing and literature analysis classes. These courses are offered through both our English department—featuring AP and honors coursework—and our theater department, which frequently showcases student-created works through public readings. Our English chair has led Kenyon College’s prestigious summer program for high school writers, reflecting our strong commitment to literary excellence. Many top English students from VIP go on to prestigious English programs across the United States, including Trinity College, Williams College, UC Berkeley, the University of Pennsylvania, Brown University, Sarah Lawrence College, Brandeis University, Bryn Mawr College, Antioch College, Kenyon College, and Wellesley College.
