The mission of Valley International Preparatory High School is to prepare students for college through a variety of stimulating and challenging instructional methodologies, an extensive college counseling process that focuses on “right fit” for every student, and an advisory program that fosters self-reflection, self-expression, and self-actualization.


Through innovation, collaboration, and engagement, Valley International Preparatory High School will empower their students to be passionate, self-motivated, competent, lifelong learners who are eager to meet the challenges of post-secondary life in the 21st century.

Award Winning Educators and Staff

Anne Cochran / Executive Director

As founding Executive Director of Valley International Preparatory High School, Anne has extensive experience in charter school leadership and designing and running college counseling programs that have gained students admittance to a wide array of top-tier universities nationally and internationally. <BR>

Anne was named a San Fernando Valley Business Journal’s Women In Business Award nominee, and is a frequent speaker at professional college conferences, most recently as a guest speaker at College Board’s Destination Equity Conference. She has also recently addressed the Western Association of College Admission Counseling, as well as the Independent Educational Consultants Association. She is the recipient of the Yale Educator Award, “Colleges That Change Lives” Counselor Award, the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation’s Educator of Distinction Award, and CHAMPS’ 2013 “Educator of the Year” Award. She was also the in-house college blogger and on-air commentator for KTTV’s MyFOXLA Parents.

Michael Horne / Principal

An alumni of the 2008 NYC Teach for America corps, Michael has experience in serving in a variety of classroom and leadership roles in public and charter schools in both NYC and LA and believes that access to a quality education needs to be a right for all students.

Kathryn Wilbert / Assistant Principal

A Vassar College grad and Math for America NYC alumnus, Kathryn served under a Math for America Master Teacher Fellowship and has extensive experience implementing project-based assessments and worked with NY State’s Performance Assessment Consortium to implement and evaluate project-based assessments in lieu of state-mandated standardized tests in mathematics.  Kathryn also teaches AP Calculus A/B, AP Statistics, and is the chair of the math department.

Iain Lampert / Communications Teacher & Speech and Debate Coach

Two-time national mock trial champion during his time at UCLA, Iain Lampert heads up a team of nationally recognized speech-and-debate and mock trial students.
